One of the largest retail chains in Lithuania NORFA has chosen Equinox Europe, an advanced logistics optimization solutions provider, to automate the long shelf-life goods warehouse.
Unique Equinox technological system will be implemented at the warehouse complex in Kėdainiai – consisting of several highly automated, interconnected components:
Modern automated pallet storage system with 10,000 pallet locations and expandable capacity. The storage system will be served by innovative autonomous pallet shuttles capable of moving in all four directions, significantly improving pallet accessibility. This ensures maximum space utilization, higher storage density, and increased warehouse throughput.
Next-generation sorting system (sorter) that will distribute goods fast and precisely to the appropriate NORFA stores – up to 200 destinations. It will efficiently sort both small and large packages, and is also well-suited for fragile items. Pallets with goods will be automatically delivered from the storage system to the sorter via lifts and conveyors.
VLM compact vertical lift modules will be used for efficient storage of small items. Goods from these units will also be automatically delivered to the sorter via conveyors.
The latest Equinox WMS Vision system, powered by artificial intelligence, will manage all warehouse processes and the operation of the automated technological system.
According to Dainius Dundulis, Chairman of the Board at NORFA and CEO of Rivona, the newly implemented Equinox solution will impact all logistics processes: after modernization, the warehouse space will be utilized approximately three times more efficiently than before, and the speed of goods storage and sorting will increase twofold.
